RE: School Resource Officer Agreement with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Department
I am requesting approval of the School Resource Officer Agreement with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Department and the necessary funding for the placement of five school resource officers on the campuses of our high schools (exception Gulf Breeze High School). In addition, a K-9 unit (handler and animal) will be based at a school of the District’s choice, and will be available to all schools in the District. The attached agreement delineates the responsibilities of each party in reference to this agreement. Please note the total cost to the Santa Rosa County School District to provide the S.R.O. program at the afore-mentioned high schools (nine months) and the K-9 unit (50%). The cost to the District will equate to $282,672.48 which represents an increase from the previous year.
Your consideration and approval of this request is essential to our ability to continue to provide a safe learning environment at these schools. Thank you for your consideration.
